Rainforest Plantings

As part of the Course Project, the Club transformed 14 hectares of mown turf rough into native heathland to create the Bay Course’s picturesque and biodiverse landscape. However, a lesser known transformation also occurred across a number of our boundary tree-line areas, which were transformed into pockets of native Australian rainforest.

Differing from the heathland plant palette, these rainforest planting areas boast a range of ferns and low-lying shrubs to complement the large boundary tree species. These species include Hypolepis muelleri, Adiantum aethiopicum, Pellaea falcata, Carex appressa, Viola hederacea and Baumea juncea.

As part of the BMP, these areas will also be monitored for both flora and fauna in the years ahead, with the aim of growing into thriving mini-rainforest environments to attract an even wider range of wildlife.
